Butttttttt they don't have two kids. I always said I had x amount of kid(s) with another on the way and then switched it to the new total once I gave birth.
Honest question. Had one of them been miscarried, would you have felt like you lost a kid?

I had a much more morbid thought I didn't want to say but since you threw it out there lol...

If your wife was 8 months pregnant and someone kicked her in the stomach and the nonexistent baby died, would you as the Father of this would be child think that person should be tried for murder? After all, you don't have a child so is there no murder?

Oh yea, we're going there for this simple thread

I think this may be more a connotation issue than anything.

For example, my personal pet peeve is someone who refers to themselves as a "single mother" when they are divorced and sharing custody.

Sure, technically they are single and a mother, but they aren't going it alone, which is the connotation (to me) of single mother.

So if someone tells me they have "two kids" I think of all the bullshite two kids requires. And there is a difference between two kids walking around and one not yet born when it comes to going about your day.
