Yes. 2003. I remember being a kid and using allowance money to buy the recruiting class DVD. I remember Shawn Jordan’s highlight video being unreal.

I hate to bring this up but looking back on some of those classes and LSU wouldn’t have been what they were without the 3* players we landed. We had quite a bit of misses on our 5* and 4* players. Especially on the DL.
We had a lot of misses period, but this has always been a part of recruiting and will always be. If you hit on about 60% of your guys then you’re doing pretty good over 4 years. That’s why I’m not sure why people get so caught up in this stuff. Some guys develop and some don’t. Doesn’t really matter what star they are. We’re still cherry picking our guys, no matter what star rating they are.
Thst’s always been my argument. We have always been able to recruit enough of all star caliber players to compete and as long as we have good leadership, LSU will always be able to compete. Just take a look at those classes, Its telling. While the recruiting sites have gotten better, I don’t think it’s much different than it was then. You still have misses/ surprises on all fronts. Good stuff!

Hell yea I got the Same DVD. Jordan looked like Mike Alscott. Amp Hill might have been better than Buster or Bowe if he didn’t get that injury freshman camp. Tim Washington was an animal as well.
All of 2001, 2003,2004, and 2009 were all rated #1 by at least one of the big 3 services at the time. Back in 2001 it was just Rivals, Lemming, and Super Prep. I would probably say 2001 was the best because you had 4 of the nations top 20 players. All of them lived up the hype. Then on top of them you have a hall of fame LT in it. Plus Travis Daniels, Addai, Niswanger, and Bennie Jets in it.
