McAfee retired at an all-pro level to go into media. I think he was making like $4M/yr.
Went to Barstool and they owned his show. So he left barstool to start his own and put it on YT to grow the numbers. He then struck a huge deal with Fanduel and then walked from that go to espn.
The whole time, he was also doing espn CFB color and WWE wrestling/announcing.
Apparently McAfee was not from a very well off family and said his only goal is to make as much money as he can as quickly as he can so his kids never have to worry about finances.
He will go wherever he can make the most and if that is not espn, then he'll go somehere else.
I bet he stays in the game about 10 more years and then retires when his kids get into sports. He's basically said as much after he had his first child, which was supposedly a bit unexpected.
For a guy who just retired from football like 6 years ago, he's doing better than anyone could have ever dreamed.
