if the choice is Tucker, and I pray to god its either him or Nix, why do we have to wait till the end of the year? Weiss took the ND gig with like a month to go with the Pats. isn't it in everyones best interests to move now, even Tuckers, so he can secure a very good job?

You don't want Bennet but pray for Nix who was fired year before last. Makes sense

1. Because it's the polite thing to do. Helps keep your rep as a HC in CFB, especially at a high profile program where your coordinators are likely to rotate out to HC'ing jobs every 2-4 years ... which means you're going to need a steady stream of bright, up-and-coming coordinators to fill their predecessor's shoes ... if you mean to buck the trend and stick 'round for a very long tenure as HC at a high profile CFB program.

2. Because you know no DC, no matter how much of a defensive wizard he is, can install a viable D in three weeks in time for a bowl game. Unlike Auburn who fired their coach and is having a run of de-commits, LSU is suffering no similar panic amongst it's own 2009 class commits.

3. Because you may have promised the NFL organization from whom you intend to hire your DC that you'll hold off introducing your new DC 'til after he's fulfilled his commitment this season to said NFL team.

Just a few reasons why CLM could be waiting for an NFL DC, if it's his DC choice for LSU.
