Tonight she kept taking little shots at how long it was taking me to build 2 nightstands for our teenage daughter.
As silly as it sounds to y'all, I'm sure, these two nightstands have a whole world of emotion wrapped around them.
It is highly likely that she requested a room makeover for Christmas to have a "big girl" room. It is likely a transition from that tween look to a more mature high school girl. Matching nightstands are often the first step.
Your wife is probably in a vortex of emotion about your daughter growing up and possibly leaving for college soon. At the same time, darling teen daughter is probably giving her a world of grief on the daily.
ZERO excuse for the snarky comment at you, though. Just trying to give a background as to what is likely the issue, unless she speaks like this to you often.
And for all of you "she disrespected you - divorce her" crowd, this is exactly what's wrong with our society. They've been together at least 14 years. I'm sure he has said something equally mean to her at some point. You can't throw in the towel on a family over one (from what we know) isolated incident. You have to have thicker skin for your kids.
I mean, it sounds like she didn't say anything like this during the building of the other 487,000 pieces of furniture, so I think they're good.

Then tell her to get her lazy, emotional azz out in the shop and try and build something herself.
After hours of abject failure, busted knuckles and bleeding fingers, she can then come back into the house, apologize profusely and make this good man a gdanm sandwich while he performs his magic.
