The one who hopped up on a step a few feet, thinking if only he could keep his shoes dry? Yeah, no chance. Seeing what was coming just a block or two over, with all that debris and speed of the rising water.
Much like later on, I guess the editors cropped out the vids from the hillside which showed people trying to outrun the oncoming death across the open field. Mostly older ladies, it looked like. Hard to believe the video claims dead & missing were less than 19,000.
No wonder Japan gave us the Kaiju movies. That destruction looks unnatural.
28:00 to 30:25. We go from the tsunami trickling up a shallow tributary, with gawkers standing in the street to get a better look to the entire place being inundated with water and debris. Complete chaos in minutes. Camera person starts out at street level, but then wisely gets to high ground. Same sea-wall , same playground, but both get quickly flooded and obliterated.
