The issue with Trey right now is that he hasn’t developed his game enough in the offseason to be a plus player while being in a shooting slump. He’s for the most part an average defender, average rebounder, and average 2pt scorer off of cuts and closeouts. His first two years he was an elite shooter, and he just happens to be in a shooting slump at the moment.
If he either continued to shoot or was still projected by our FO to be a >42% 3 point shooter while having the intangibles and athletisicm he possesses, then yes he can be a high contract level player (not max/supermax level obviously). The whole point of him possibly being a max guy after 4 years was based on defensive upside and offensive development while maintaining the elite 3 point shooting, which to be fair, he hasn’t shown this year
