White Trunk white leaves

I was in Columbia, MS this weekend. Downtown on Main Street they had some trees with a white trunk, and leaves that turn white prior to falling. I don't have a good photo to share.
I was wondering if anyone would have a good idea of this tree.

I have a sycamore that can be really white/pale before it begins shedding and all of the leaves came down after last night. Might be similar to that?

You might call the municipal office and ask. Or MSU horticulture dept. or county agent.

White poplar. Our property line was lined with them when I was a kid. They all got sick and died within 15 years.
