Not much, that is true. We should not ignore it, but, Churchill was a very high-functioning heavy drinker. I'm not offended.

There are other areas of history where new research has revealed important areas where re-interpretation is warranted, because these new conclusions challenge some things that have been "known" for a long time.

Churchill was a high-functioning alcoholic? So what, I say. He was pretty good at his jobs.

PS Am I sensing here that some people are emotionally distraught about the info in the OP? That's weird. Why would a historical fact upset somebody?

Any American attempting to disparage the leadership and significance of Churchill is a babbling idiot.

He was a great man

Read Andrew Robert's biography of Churchill.
