Sounds a lot like Hootie Brown when we recruited him and instead ended up with Jamal Adams.

You're thinking of Hootie Jones, but there was another DB from east Texas named Tony Brown that was also expected to end up at LSU but ultimately went to Bama (not sure he did much).

Jamal Adams was ranked about as high as Hootie Jones and ended up being much better. Hootie played 4 years at Bama and never took a snap in the NFL.

Tony Brown was meh at Bama, he was one of those great athletes but developing his football skills type players. He ran track and was less football-centric. He played 4 years at Bama and has been around the NFL since 2018 as a backup and practice squads.

Of that 5/5 group:

Tony Brown
Hootie Jones
Leonard Fournette
Trey Quinn
Speedy Noil

Only Fournette really flourished in college and made an impact in the NFL.

The rest were mediocre and never really did anything in the NFL granted being on an NFL roster is still a good outcome from a talent perspective.

5/5 was Gerald Willis, Speedy, Leonard, Jamal, and Tony Brown.

Not Hootie or Trey Quinn.

Funny enough, when Hootie decommitted from Alabama, he immediately called Corey and tried to commit to LSU. Corey told him LSU was full as Adams was going to commit at the UA game.
