I have seen schools mix before, especially if same district. School A has 6 girls, School B has 6 girls, max 4 kids in room.

Rather than each school getting 2 rooms, you split the 12 into 3 rooms. Purely a room saving measure, plus, it's good for kids social development to hang out with different kids at times.

So the real issue is with the school that the transgendered kid attended, not the school of the kid(s) who were obviously upset.
