I use a corporate code through Hertz for my rentals on trips, and about a month or 2 ago I booked a 6 day rental for a trip I am taking in March for around $650-700. I need to get the car a day early and when I edited the res, it has jumped to $1400. Just outrageous pricing. Does anyone have any tips/tricks or companies they use?
If you have a corporate code I'd call the rental company and try to add the extra day over the phone.

Call the local office and talk to the manager. We had a similar experience this summer; we had rented the car for two weeks and wanted to add another day. The online/phone person wanted to charge an outrageous price for the extra day; “nothing they could do”.
We (2 couples) decided to take the car back as scheduled and when we got there the person checking us in asked how it was going. We told him the story.
He happened to be the manager. He said the people in the call center don’t understand the real world and for our trouble he let us have the car for an extra day for $0 cost.

This is the route I thought would be best. They make it nearly impossible to speak with anyone at the office and once I got through they imediately transfered me to their reservations department of course.
