They gave him the maximum amount they could possibly give him and did it before he broke out as a shooter. It was a win/win situation and it paid off very quickly. Both sides did their jobs.

exactly.... the player they paid him, at the time, is not the same player that Herb is today.... he's improved a pretty vast amount, offensively... that being said, like i've said earlier, he's still got a ways to go before he's in that "elite" category... defensively, he's pretty much there... but offensively, he's still got some developing to do, though he has improved drastically since entering the league
