Apparently Chauvins family was t told he was stabbed and maybe didn't know where he was.
So can't remember, did SCOTUS close any chance of an appeal or just something procedural forcing him to go up thru the court system?

Brace yourself for my take on this. Or probably more accurately, just a couple of observations. Firstly, it’s common as the dickens for former law enforcement officials sentenced to hard labor to be atop the “inmates to stab or beat senseless” list. For obvious reasons.
Which leads to secondly, considering the very long time and universally known reality in the first part, which has been common knowledge to those who run prisons and jails, to the dismay of I’m sure a good handful of folks here, the jailers have a legal obligation to keep inmates safe. Over which this facility has in my view very badly shite the bed and IF the story is even true and accurate to begin with, fairly substantial lawsuit incoming. It’s also a very common practice for “high risk” prisoners to be housed in a “special protective unit” to mitigate the possibility of this exact thing occurring.
And no I’m not advocating for there to be a lawsuit here. Just stating the apparent reality. But I’d probably think about it if the family called me. Lol
