No. Mom died at 55 and was in good health aside from a high stress career.

Makes me think real hard every month when I go to make my retirement contributions - am I even gonna be around for this to matter? I justify it to myself that everything I make goes to my kid in the end.

The other side of that coin is being like my ex-wife and some of my friends. Nice cars and nice vacations all on credit. They'll have to work a half day on the day of their funeral. What really scares me is NOT making those preparations, then suffering some physical ailment that prevents me from working, yet not having any money. I'm 50 but could retire tomorrow with a modest lifestyle if the unthinkable were to happen.
