Airbnb’s only make sense now in places where hotels are not available, you want to keep a large group together with multiple bedrooms, or you’re going to be in a place for a while and want access to a kitchen instead of restaurants. Mountain cabins, 30A style beach rentals, etc. They also help when traveling with pets as I’ve found a few with fenced yards for the dog.

Other than that, no thanks. Not worth the hassle. When I travel with the family, I’ll just book a Residence Inn or Homewood/Embassy Suites and be done with it. Cheaper, usually nicer, and with free breakfast. As someone who travels for work 120+ nights a year, I just don’t want to deal with researching Airbnb’s for regular travel to make sure they aren’t in a ghetto. Using the Marriott app is simple and I know what to expect.

Airbnb’s initial concept was a winner - rent out an unused guest room. Greed turned it into hotels run by amateurs as a side gig.
