If she provided just basic context like “She broke a team rule”, or “She’s getting her academics straight“, it would eliminate a lot of the drama and speculation in the situation.

There are privacy rules which restrict what coaches and university officials can say about a student athlete. Some people don't just jump to conclusions they love to make negative quantum leaps and the simple minded are eager to swallow it hook, line and sinker.
