I’m sorry man but as I posted you better start looking at the DEFENSES they played against.
I LOVE JAYDEN AND HE DESERVES THE HEISMAN. However, you want to know what people are going to look at?
LSU has lost to 17, 24(and ole miss not ranked in the top 50) and beat 45,46,47,and 48.
None of those teams have set the world on fire even FSU.

OK, sure - let’s look at the defenses.

The best (statistical) defense we played in 2019 was UGA (#3 in FBS). Burrow’s stat line in that game:
28/38, 349 yards (9.2 ypa), 4 TD, 0 INT
11 rushes for 41 yards (3.7 ypc)
49 total plays for 390 total yards (8.0 ypp)

The best defense we’ve played to-date this year was Alabama (#17 as you mentioned). Daniels’ stat line in 3 quarters of that game:
15/24, 219 yards (9.1 ypa), 2 TD, 1 INT
11 rushes for 163 yards (14.8 ypc), 1 TD
35 total plays for 382 total yards (10.9 ypp)

Had he not been knocked out on a dirty hit, he was on pace for 490 total yards and 4 TD.

We’ll never know what that stat line would have actually been, obviously. Not that it really matters because Alabama’s defense does not look as good as UGA’s 2019 defense. Texas A&M is #8 in total defense so we’ll see what that looks like next week.

Regardless, though - the two best (statistical) defenses we played in 2019 were UGA and Clemson. We had the opportunity to see Burrow in those games because the team made the SECCG and CFP. For shits and giggles, let’s say LSU somehow went to Atlanta and the CFP this year. Do you think any team we would play in postseason is holding Daniels to <390 total yards and <4 TD at this point? Because I don’t.

As for the games we lost.. you are knocking Daniels for losing to:
quote:

17, 24(and ole miss not ranked in the top 50)

Daniels accounted for 513 yards of total offense and 5 TD against Ole Miss. He didn’t lose that game.

Our defense lost it by giving up 706 (!!) yards and 55 points.

Daniels’ Alabama stat line is above. Our defense gave up 507 yards and let Alabama convert 79% of their third downs.

And I gave you the comparison between 2023 Florida State and 2019 Auburn earlier. Again, pretty similar performances. The difference?

2019 Auburn vs. LSU defense:
15/36 passing, 157 yards (4.4 ypa)
33 rushes for 130 yards (3.9 ypc)
69 total plays for 287 yards (4.2 ypp)

2023 FSU vs. LSU defense:
24/32 passing, 346 yards (9.4 ypa)
27 rushes for 113 yards (4.2 ypc)
59 total plays for 459 total yards (7.8 ypp)

This talk about “looking at defenses they beat” is silly because if we even had an average defense this year we would be 11-0.

Again, I don’t think Daniels is better than Burrow was in 2019. All I’m saying is that it’s closer than many people seem to believe.
