As a younger person I feared death. I wouldn’t want to go to a funeral or even acknowledge if someone we knew had passed.
Then, years ago my granddaddy was very sick in the hospital and was not good at all. I did not want to face it, but I had to go see him. He was weak, not the strong man I looked up to my whole life. I sat and talked to him. All the sudden I wanted him to know what he meant to me. We all got ready to leave as it got late and they told us we had to go. We said goodbye and we’d be back. I was the last one to go to him.
He’d been pretty much non responsive the whole time. I said goodbye and I love you. He gripped my hand hard and gave me the biggest smile I’d ever seen from anyone ever.
They called us about 4 hours later to let us know he was gone, but I already knew.

I no longer fear death. Thanks Granddaddy.
