I worked in college as a short order cook and eventually kitchen manager in a casual dining restaurant near campus. One of the other kitchen guys told us he was leaving, he had been hired as the KM in a new place that was right by school.
His first initial is "B" and he and I were basically the same age, he may have been a year younger, I really don't remember.
When I asked him about it, he explained there was this guy Todd and another dude that was opening it and their menu was going to be just chicken fingers and cole slaw and we all told him - "B" that is by far the stupidest idea for a restaurant we had ever heard of but good luck anyway and come back and work here when it shuts down.
For the record - I still think it is the stupidest idea for a restaurant I have ever heard of.

Cane’s opened on north side of LSU, and another business that was basically same concept opened off Lee & Highland at around same time (before Cane’s opened 2nd location in same area but closer to he winn Dixie).
I don’t know who was first with concept or first to actually open a location.

For the record…you aren’t worth “$7billion” so it must not have been that stupid of an idea??????? But I do hope you are loving that short order cook role at the Waffle House, only 10 more years and you will be manager…maybe
Just guessing but it sounds like “B” made the better choice…took the chance and got in when the getting was GREAT keep flipping those flapjacks you’ll get there one day, or not most likely
