Les called him out in public over the Michigan thing and he was publicly embarrassed by it. Don't expect him to say warm, fuzzy things about The Hat.

The guy is on an Alabama radio show. If he were on in BR, he'd say something totally different.

Nutt's team will decline in talent, look how well he's recruiting now. He makes excuses but simply put Orgeron did a much better job recruiting under the same conditions.
This is what I've been saying. He inherited talent. He isn't as good at recruiting as Ogeron. His teams will get up for the big games and play hard, but stupid play calling will hamper them at times(see 2006 lsu and 2007 tenn. games)..........hell, they may decline a bit as early as next year. Don't they lose Hardy,Oher and Peria Jerry? If Tillman leaves early that's another blow.
ETA: Hardy's a JR. but I doubt he'll be back.

Is this the same Herbie that said Ohio St and Michigan should play for the national championship in a rematch in 06?

He said the EXACT same thing on Gameday last weekend. Where was that held? Oklahoma I think.
Maybe he really believes it...

I could see it if Les couldn't recruit, but he has proven that he is just as good as the former coach.
He's also proven that he can win more with said talent than the former coach.
This year was an anomoly.
That said, Herbie is entitled to his opinion but I consider his football picks to be a bit like Jim Cramers stock picks:
"You should buy Bear Sterns" day before they went bust
"BUY WASHINGTON MUTUAL"
"BUY WACHOVIA"
each within a month of their demise.
The reality is that Arkansas can only go up, Alabama can only go down, and that the rest of the teams in the SEC will either rise or fall but you can't have more than half the teams in the SEC west on the rise, at least half of the teams have to lose.

The man is entitled to his opinion. But if he truly believes Ole Miss and Arkansas will field better football teams over the next 2-3 years (or longer for that matter), well, I couldn't disagree more. LSU has far too many advantages over them both. I don't even think most rational Ole Miss fans think they will surpass LSU beyond this year....If anything LSU's stock coming off a 7-5 season is low and I woudl expect it to go up (if we're staying with his analogy).

The man is a bandwagon fig! And I'm pretty sure he's Pete Carroll's boyfriend!

quote:That is ridiculous. We scored 30 points on an SEC opponent with a 3rd string true freshman QB (who should have been 4th string). The only problem with that game was horrible defense, and everyone with a pair of eyes realized that before we went to Arkansas.
I agree somewhat with Condon when he said before the Arkansas game that if we lose that one (after the uninspired performance against Ole Miss) there are more problems within the walls of the program than we realize.
quote:Yeah, right. Because horrible defensive coaching couldn't POSSIBLY account for a horrible performance by the DEFENSE.
There is no discipline or fear of consequences from the players and that concerns me. No other explanation for that 5000 penalty drive in the Arkansas game
This team has had three problems this year: one enormous (horrible defensive coaching), one major (inexperienced QB struggles) and one minor (poor kickoffs).
The kickoffs were a tad troubling, but nothing new and certainly not a priority given the othe two problems.
The QB situation was unfortunate, but was clearly a possibility once RP was kicked off (though obviously not a certainty, as so many wanted to insist). Still, a successful season could have been salvaged were this the extent of our problems.
The defensive coaching doomed us to a disappointing season. Giving up 31 points to Troy, Ole Miss and Arkansas to finish out the season, after giving up 50 plus twice already and too many to every other team with a pulse on offense, is almost insurmountable. This was the heart and soul of our struggles this season, and with only one possible exception (Bama) was singularly responsible for all our losses.
The only one of these problems that anyone outside the program could even conceivably have not realized going into the Arkansas game was the kickoff problem. And that would only be because they were too distracted noticing the much larger problems. Condon is 100% wrong about his conclusion. The Arkansas game indicated absolutely nothing that every LSU fan had not already realized: we have tons of talent on both sides of the ball (young and old), our QBs are talented but inexperienced, and our defensive coaching sucks.

That's pretty accurate.
It is in Arkansas's (and for that matter LSU's) interest for Nutt to coach an SEC West team. He will get his team up for big games and has a few competent assistants, but they simply and other players but overall they do not recruit well. We got lucky w/ McFadden, he was going to be a Razorback whether we had Ronald McDonald as the coach.

That's the truth.
In addition, there was no excuse for the way that team layed down against Ole Miss and even against us. It is like they just turned it in w/ a few games left in the season.
I don't think that is all coaching, those players need to have more pride than that. They lost to 2 teams w/ inferior talent, and Ole Piss's coach is not a better coach than Miles.

What about felix jones? Hope you enjoy getting your arse kicked by that coach you ran off.
I hope he text messages your girl too.

What about Felix Jones. Simply put, OU wasn't interested in Felix, neither was OSU (both schools were pursuing other running backs). Bobby Allen is the coach that closed that deal and got Felix to come to AR.
Where is Bobby coaching now, well he was retained by Petrino b/c he is a good recruiter (possibly b/c he has a son in HS that is a pretty good QB too).
So, back to your point, even if I gave you Felix, what other great players has Hootie recruited from outside of AR? Huh?
Come on pal, produce some names.
