Red Tails episodes?
I do not know enough about this show but the one thing I did not like about The Pacific was how it jumped around and did follow one group like BoB. The Red Tails flew out of Italy after leaving Northern African and Sicily. So I am wondering are they going to jump between the two groups on different episodes.
Something Lucas's movie failed to show as well that by the end of 1942 most of the Luftwaffe fighter planes/corps was destroyed. They had very little left to shoot down allied bombers. Yes, the Red Tails were successful, but they did not hit the war until sometime in 1943 and by then the bombers biggest concern were anti air guns.

I think you are moving the timeline ahead by about 1-2yrs on the decline of the Luftwaffe.
I think the turning point was probably in early 1944 when "Big Week" occurred in 1944. Allied fighters were available in large numbers and turned loose to range ahead of the bombers to engage the Luftwaffe before they even got close to the bombers.
I would have to look into my copies of "Flying Fortress" by Edward Jablonski and "Masters of the Air" to get more detail.
Hopefully this series will be available outside Apple+ at some point.

Horsechit
If that were the case the B-17 groups wouldn’t have taken the ridiculous losses they did in ‘43.
During the Shweinfurt/Regensburg raid in Aug ‘43 alone the Krauts put up over 400 fighters and downed/damaged over 130 B-17’s in a single day.
And don’t try to argue with me on this one… I’m half German so I’m fairly knowledgable on these matters. ;)
