Maximizing points JNB to AUS or somewhere close

Going to S Africa with friends from there. Already have flights there figured out. Trying to maximize value of points with as little out of pocket as possible.
We started with tix on Delta to be on the same flights as our friends. Then their plans & flights changed. So we started looking for better deals.
Original round trip on Delta was 1.6M points for premium economy or whatever they call it. Then priorities changed.
To get there, we’re now on Emirates from MIA to JNB in business class via DBX. 777 to Dubai, A380 to JNB for 303k points plus a little cash. Will use Southwest points to get from AUS to MIA.
Looking for return flights strategy maximizing points from AmEx. Delta was a 1 for 1 conversion. Trying to get better and some of you guys are great at this.
Any suggestions? Flying back 1/5/24 or thereabouts. Thx

Transferring points from AmEx to Delta is a terrible choice as the redemptions are horrible.
on 1/10 you can go JNB-CDG-JFK for 496,000 for the both of you through Flying Blue.
I can likely find you better options if given more time/info.

Hoping to fly back 1/5 1/6 or 1/7 at the latest from m JNB. Earlier is better than later. Happy to provide any info that would help.
