Some could say fools gold based on the division and the current cap situation.

Yes the Saints are the best of the South but the rest of the south is young and has positive looking caps for the near future.

Saints are old and living on borrowed time cap wise.

Note that I said "after this season." We are in 1st in a terrible division with one of the easiest schedules the team has had in decades. Players like Jordan, Thomas, Hill, Mathieu, Maye and Davis are not getting any younger ($90 million in cap next year) and Kamara, Ram and Lattimore make up over $70 million in cap next year (with Carr at $36 million). There comes a time when we have to admit that we have a lot of money invested in players that are either older or playing a position that does not command the salary any longer. Maybe we can get another year without rebuilding, but it would entail a commitment to these players by restructuring even more $$$ into the future again.
