In the off season, there were a lot of people who looked at our Defense front 7 and said that they were going be "nasty".

I took that word and phrase to mean something different than what I see on the field now.

Not having a DL coach in Fall Camp obviously was a big issue

I really thought the defense would be the strength of the team. Especially against the run. Boy was I wrong.

We weren’t expecting our nasty, beast pass rushing all American to be moved to nickel back

That is a major reason why we are where we are. But the coaches don’t whine about it. That is to their credit. Do we all expect better…yes. We are where we are folks. The players trying to be superman and getting goaded into chasing ghosts need to be coached better.

That's because Smith was supposed to play up to expectations next to Wingo. Jones was supposed to a playmaker on the edge. And Ovie was supposed to be the Jack/Edge to immediately step in for Ojulari. Then Perkins was supposed to show his versatility at MLB and Speights was supposed to be an All-SEC LB.

0/6 on those lofty expectations as of last game.
