Home gym total: $2936 us ($4,510 au) for a home gym where I don't need much more for PPSA programs:

Cashed in on the COVID home gym phase a lot of people went through and sold up due to typically having more options now

My advise is make a habit of looking look at local marketplaces and other local online forums, and save cash in wallet to buy when something is available.

Bought a new commercial power rack $700au, with 4 J cups and additionally safety arms, he paid $2400au. Same guy sold me 12 x 15mm gym matts for $50, which were also new and go for $50 each.

Bought a used ORBIT AirForce Pro Air Bike for $500, which retails for $2000au. Bought this from a local gym 500klm away, because he was upgrading equipment

Second hand commercial flat bench for $100, which retails for $500

Second hand commercial ajustable bench for $600, which retails for 1k

First barbell from retailer on sale was $100, which was 50% off

Initial weight plates: initially started with rubber coated plates from a local retail for 40% off sale: 4 x 20kg, 2x 10kg, 5kg, 2.5kg and 1 .5. for $300au

Upgaded to bumper plates: 4 x 25kg, 20kg and 15kg. 2 x 10kg, 5kg, 2.5 and 1.5kg, with two red elite barbells and a weight tree for around $2100 via an online sale with a commercial gym equipment store.

Secondhand dumbbells: 2x 4kg, 6kg, 8kg, 10kg, 15kg, 17.5kg and 20kg all for $400

2 x 8kg Ybells and a 12kg Ybell for $200

If I could give anyone advise is not only wait for online sales,

Also press the 'Shop' store button (pre enters in details online) while items are in shopping cart, and leave them there, and the store will contact you and offer a better price and/or shipping. I know its dodgy leaving credit card info on there, but mine is a spending debit card with no money in it most of the time

Good luck!
