I suspect it’s just another case of two parents too selfish to put the needs of each other and their children ahead of their own simple desires.

Agree with this from experience. Parents got divorced when I was 12. It sucked at first, but ended up better for everyone in the long run. Of course, my dad stayed active in my life. That will be the biggest thing as far as the kids go.
