Refrigerator defroster drain question

I noticed some water pooling under my fridge today, and I figured it might relate to a clog in the defroster drain. So, I cleared all the ice from around the drain hole and poured some piping hot gravy through it, making sure I saw it drip down into the pan under the unit.
Maybe the issue is fixed for now, but I noticed a couple of things about the design of the fridge that gave me pause.
First, the black plastic hose that conducts the water from the drain to the pan makes a fricking loop right at its start, like a roller coaster. This seems like a huge problem.
Second, the pan under the fridge only covers the exact area where this stupid black hose is supposed to put the water. So there's no margin for error if the stupid loop-dee-loop black hose leaks.
All in all, this seems like a design that's tailor-made to quietly dump water all over my floor. Wondering if anyone else has dealt with such a design.
Frigidaire side-by-side unit, manufactured circa 2019.

the loop is there to make an air trap so your cold air isnt passing through the hose and causing it to sweat.
