We’re going to Pensacola on first weekend of November for their final homecoming show. This is the naval air station show and not the Pensacola beach summer show.

We’re staying at the Hilton on the beach. My question for anyone with knowledge… will we be able to see the Blue Angels up close on their outward flight passes and approaches?

We’re definitely going to the show on Friday. But I’d love to see close flight approaches from our balcony or from the beach on that Saturday. It’s same day as the LSU Alabama game.

Thanks

That's be a great trip! We actually have a friend that flew with them. Flew "Bert" (the C-130). They have a place on the beach and we got to go visit them a couple of years ago. He took us on base. Got to go in the "briefing room" and met some of the current pilots.

You probably could see them. Just call the hotel and ask.

But..

We got to watch them practice from the National Seashore. Beautiful beaches. You could tour Ft. Pickens. It's right across the bay from the Naval Air Station. Check that out as one option. Others may suggest some items as well.

I don't know about P-Cola, but the couple of times we stayed on the beach in Alabama, we got a C-130 flyover at least every other day. Low and C-130 slow, it was cool. It's not the Fat Albert, but still cool.

Usually, airshows hold practice sessions earlier in the week, which allow you to see how they're going to fly. Ellington field is too far for me to see from when I live, but Wings Over Houston sent us an email (I think, I may have been drinking) saying there was an opportunity to catch some part of practice (presumably from the gas station parking lots across the street.) I've learned the pattern at Ellington well enough I know exactly when we can leave and still catch the FREEDOM! on the way to the truck with the kids.

Rambling aside, subscribe to the P-Cola specific airshow email list.

Probably not. It's about 6-8 miles away.
Advise is to go down to Fort Pickens with a tent and some chairs. Will have a great view and it's also very pretty.

This is from a friend that lives in Gulf Breeze.

Fantastic show. Four kids aged 5-11. They asked if we can come back next year.

We went to the Naval air base. Showed up around 10 and stayed for 30 mins after show ended. It took about 90 mins in total to get there and park and about took about 1 hour back to Pensacola Beach. I expected much worse traffic (maybe tomorrow on Saturday will be)

Tomorrow I’m thinking about driving to Fort Pickens just to see the F35 again. My god… that thing is impressive.
