That post gets downvoted into oblivion with responses like "don't be an idiot stargazer. Look at the offer sheet. A&M, Tennessee, Georgia and Oklahoma were after him."


I looked through our last decade of recruiting classes and the hit rate on 3 stars is pretty spotty which might be expexted. I guess broadly speaking 3 stars are 3 stars for a reason and the lower you go in the talent rankings, the less likely you are to hit on starters in that pool. But the recruiting evaluators can't hit on every guy who's going to outplay his ranking.

It may be worth a fuller dig on the success rate of a 3 star vs 4 when I've got the time to look at it

Shea already found out the rates of 3 stars and 5 stars. LSU was one of the worst with developing 5 stars, but the best with developing 3 stars. Hell I knew we were at least one of the best with developing 3 stars by just watching LSU.
