Natural gas fireplace question. Help/advice

We built this home in 2015 and have a ventless natural gas fireplace in living room.
Last few years I cant get the pilot light to stay lit and struggled to get it repaired. Long story short i'm just gonna change out the little insert with the burners and ceramic logs.
I'm seeing that there seems to be vented log kits and ventless log kits.
Is the only difference the substance of the actual ceramic logs? Bc the ventless log kits seem to be pricier.
Like would I be able to just buy one of these vented log and burner kits and simply use my current old ventless logs on the new kits burner?
Something like this? LINK
From what I'm reading, the vented logs give off some kind of carbon monoxide when burning that needs to go up the chimney, whereas the ventless logs do not.
I guess bottom line, will the above link kit be safe to use with my current ventless ceramic logs? or is something different with the way the burners burn as well?
Thanks in advanced if anyone can help

You can use ventless in a fireplace designed for vented logs, but not the other way around, from what I'm researching. I'm not an expert but I believe the main difference between the two fireboxes is that one has a chimney and the other doesn't. One result says "approved firebox" but again, I think they're only talking about fireplaces that have a chimney vs ones that don't.
Ventless will burn hotter and be more energy efficient. Vented will look more realistic.
If they're anything like my gas fireplace, the gas leaks out of the holes from underneath and you just light with a long match/lighter and it burns like normal. I've seen some gas fireplaces with electric starters as well.
Bottom line: I would go with the ventless.

I currently have a ventless fireplace in my living room.
would love to purchase this vented kit, and use my old ventless logs with it. Wondering if that is safe

I'm looking and it appears the vented burn at almost double the BTUs on average compared to the ventless. So to answer, I believe that the actual burners would provide a substantial difference.

So I prob should use a ventless kit I guess… damn

I would suggest contacting your local fireplace store. Woodburners in BR helped me out when I called them even though I didn't purchase anything from them at the time.

That’s a great idea.
May call them. I’m around the Houma area.

Vented logs need a flue and ventless logs do not. If you currently do not have a flue, then go with a ventless log set. If you really want a vented set then you might be able to direct vent to an exterior wall if you don't have a flue exiting the roof. A local fireplace company would be a good resource to tap into. The logs need to be set into the box in a particular manner to ensure a clean burn (esp. ventless). Also, always ensure you have working CO alarms if you use gas inside (fireplace, stove, etc.). Newer ventless logs have an oxygen sensor, and if it falls below the lower limit then it will stop functioning as a safety measure. You can always crack a window for the fire to draw from if you have a tight house.

OP's issue is that he is concerned about the new burner - will the vented burner work on the ventless logs he already has, or will he need to buy the ventless burner due to both having drastically different BTU outputs?

Ahhh I understand now. I'd definitely consult with a professional before trying to mix-match products. I'm not sure that any fireplace store would be willing to try that or recommend it due to liability/safety reasons, but I'm not a fireplace guy either, so don't take my word for it.
