There were five of us, Dad died about 8 years before Mom. She was just beginning her long slide into dementia when he died and her care ate up most of their estate.

Once she passed, we sold their house and split the proceeds. Each share ended up being about $50k.

My wife’s Mom passed in 2019, her Dad probably has 5-10 years left; she’ll get around $200k from his estate. I’d rather have him around than the money.
