you're surprised parents buy teenagers cars and pay for school? Why should that be surprising or even weird?

Each generation of my family has put the next through college. So basically, you pay it forward when you are financially able and don't put the next generation in debt right out of school. We have college savings accounts for our kids so we will be able to do the same. Everyone ultimately has paid for college. They just do it later in life when they're not poor.
