But if I don’t connect wi-fi and go dumb tv route, it should be fine otherwise? Looking at one for $600 at Best Buy for a second room.

I dont think anyone makes a dumb TV anymore. You can buy any TV, even smart TV and choose not to connect it to the internet. Likewise, you dont have to use the TV's smart platform. They will all work with external devices or standard OTA tv signals. You only have to deal with the smart TV platform if you want to.
