I would argue that the LSU-Auburn series since 2000 or so has produced the most exciting games in that time span.

I would say this is correct since they started playing annually. The 1990s had several memorable games between the two teams. I hate it's going away on an annual basis. I was just pointing out that they haven't always played on an annual basis and that life goes on.

We also typically played Florida and Kentucky every year.

Yeah, and if I recall correctly, it used to be on back-to-back Saturdays in October. In the '70s, there were a couple of trips to Lexington where Kentucky wore white at home for just the LSU game to force the Tigers into purple jerseys.

LSU and Kentucky rolled off the annual schedule when the league switched to a 5-1-2 format starting with the 2002 season.

LSU always played Florida the first week of October and Kentucky the third week. There was always one game in between: back in the 1960's it was often Miami!

Kentucky wore "spite whites" vs LSU in 1974, 1976, 1978 and 1980.

LSU lost the first two of these games, in their unlucky gold/purple/gold and won the latter two. Also, Florida forced the Tigers into purple a number of occasions back in the 1960's and 1970's, and except for a 3-3 tie in 1972, LSU always lost those games in the unlucky uniform.
