Can you summarize Chavis's style? I don't know much about him.

He will think outside the box (sometimes to his detriment - SECCG 2001). He is excellent at developing LBs and Safeties (pretty good at DL as well). His schemes are typically more based on fundamentals than gimmics (initial statement still applies). The spread is a bit of an issue as it is the modern offense, but, in the end, fundamentals are the best way to defend it. His pass defense is largely contingent on the talent level. When he doesn't have as much talent as he'd like, he does play a bit soft (we all hate that idea).

His biggest talent is his ability to diagnose what the opponent does. His defense SCHEMES are usually very solid. Blitzing isn't overdone and typically well thought out (and HIDDEN).

These are just very general observations. He is not a riverboat gambler, but more of a steady hand. While his defenses aren't typically stiffling (with moderate talent), they are dependable and consistent. With experience and a few stars, his schemes are very effective.
