Understood. What would they do in hostile Chinese waters? Run even more quiet. I’m making a wild guess this trap was set in shallow water, near a naval port. Setting them in the open ocean would be very hit and miss and a waste of resources.
Perhaps it was near one of those islands they’ve built in the South China Sea. I don’t know for sure just speculation.

quote:I've watched enough submarine warfare videos on Youtube to know there's a few fairly deep spots that are basically underwater mountain passes that are known avenues but I have doubts the Chinese are capable of laying traps at that depth without us stumbling across it during construction if not detecting it outright.
