hodge podge guys into a secondary and everyone is shocked when we do not have a good defense. People are just not realistic. This is what should have happened last year, but Kelly got lucky. People want youth to play, well this is what happens when freshmen play.

This is somewhat of a red herring. People want more of the freshmen to play bc the transfer upperclassmen (and returning guys) aren’t getting it done. Every single transfer; that is starting or playing; has over 28 games under their belt at the collegiate level. This isn’t on the youth, no matter how much Kelly tries to spin it that way. Their personnel decisions and scheme are baffling. He should be playing more youth if the ‘mature’ guys they brought in aren’t doing any better than the inexperienced, but higher ceiling, ‘youth’.

Definitely not expecting perfection but sure you would expect our defense to provide some kind of resistance. Teams are carving us up like thanksgiving turkey. If we were middle of the pack, it would be enough to win all of our games.

There is no reason for us to allow Arkansas and Ole Miss to have their best offensive productions of the year.

This is 100% scheme. Yeah we don’t have they talent we use to but come on.

I don’t think anybody here is expecting a “good” defense anymore. But average should not be unrealistic. We all know the talent is not elite, but 117 is completely unacceptable. Okay so the secondary got burnt against a good QB with a good play caller. But what’s the excuse for allowing over 300 yards rushing. The defensive line isn’t made up of a bunch of freshman. I don’t have the answers, but I’m also not getting paid 10 million dollars a year to have those answers. This defense is embarrassing and I don’t think I’m being unreasonable by laying a large portion of that on House and BK as well.

It’s coaching and not talent if it is due to tackling basics

Sure. Giving up 711 yards of offense is completely realistic and should have been the expectation for everyone.
