re: High school football coach resigns after parents try to influence playing time

Years ago I coached a coaches pitch team. We had one kid that only played catcher. His mama was on my arse to play him somewhere else besides catcher. I kept telling her it was for his safety but she wouldn’t shut up. The last game of the year I put him at second base to appease his mama. Low a behold a popup was hit to him. He put his glove up to catch it but he didn’t put it up far enough and the ball went right over his glove and hit him in the nose. I found out later that he broke his nose trying to catch it. Sometimes coaches know a lot more than the parents.
