So we are 7-5, on our way to losing a bowl game, and have no defensive leadership or leadership of the team whatsoever, What do we do now???? We have to go out and spend big money on a new DC... One that his presence alone can change a team... And we need him now!!!!!

Do you see us beating a bowl eligible team???? Seriously???? We cannot stop anyone with a decent quarterback..... Our DC plays our corners 10 yards off the line.... I have never picked against LSU.. But come on man, be real..... We havent beaten anyone good this year..

Every good team we've played this season, we've lost.

Can you think of a bowl team that we could beat? I would bet you that we'd even make Notre Dame's offense look great.
Its embarassing how bad its gotten.
Please Les - damm it - do SOMETHING.

Look I'm as down as anyone else on this season, but at 7-5 we are going to a very low level bowl and maybe playing a mid-major school. I think we are a little better then our 7-5 record shows and if we get put against another 7-5 or even 6-6 team I think we have a good shot at winning. There are even some 8-4 and 9-3 teams I can see us beating. People that act like we couldn't beat the Barbe junior varsity are just taking their synicism a little too far.

I am just not a negatiger, that's all. Keep in mind we have not had an off week since before the Florida game. The 2005 team went through a similar situation, had time off before the Peach Bowl and just blasted Miami (with an experience Matt Flynn at QB). I think the time off before the bowl would be huge- this team could take their time preparing, and IMO look back on the 2008 season and want to end it as positive as they can.
Les Miles has been a tremendous bowl coach while at LSU. He has beaten some of the biggest names in college football in his time at LSU in bowl games (Miami, ND, Ohio State). I really think we will play well in the bowl game.

I understand where you are coming from man
It has been a brutal season where we have not improved but steadily we have played worse as the season has gone on. I am still a Tiger, always will be. I really think everything will be just fine in time. I think we will play well in the bowl and I think Les will make the adjustments needed to put us back among the elite teams in college football.

Sorry, Honcho, but this team has lost its confidence. It is shattered psychologically. Only the staff can change that, but the staff has done nothing this year to make this team better. Maybe it is a talent poor pool, but I find that hard to swallow.
The play of the defense, IMO, was the most shocking disappointment followed closely by the disappearing OL. Pre-snap penalties, personal fouls and blown assignments all over the field litter this years awful season. It is obvious that LSU had no interest in playing FB after the tough loss to the Gumps, a game that the Tigers should have won going away.
As for 'what now?', who knows. As I said weeks ago, this team is poised to collapse completely and has not disappointed on that account. Whatever bowl LSU plays in presents little upside in my view. Beating a mid-major, even a blowout, is nothing to celebrate. On the other hand, a loss to any team will make rehabilitation of the former football team that much more unlikely.
LM had better make sure this team has its head right with ball. The defensive side of the ball is as good a place as any to begin....
