No one "loaned" you money on a slave like a car loan.
Unless you were a plantation owner or some other business that needed a lot of labor, a slave was an absolute luxury.
People made maybe $15 a month. In the early 1800s a slave was easily $1000.
Matter of fact, Martha was $1200 and Bob cost $990.
This I know for fact. I have held the records of the transaction.
