Something like 50% of families in Mississippi and South Carolina owned at least 1 slave. Across the rebellion states as a whole, about 20% of families owned at least 1 slave.

That is TOTAL fricking horseshite.

Slaves were extremely expensive. A slave in 1800 could easily cost $1000. Much more than the average person even made in a year.

Then you had upkeep. Another adult human to feed, clothe, and house.

Only the wealthy owned slaves. Idiots like you spreading your revisionist history.

Most of the South was very poor. They could barely afford to feed themselves and their families.
