Deer don't notice it. I've had deer within feet of me under my stand with it on that never knew I was there.

Running a little experiment today. I don’t have an IR thermometer, just like a digital meat thermometer. Using that, after about 10 minutes the plate on the thermacell is about 220F and the Nitecore is at 170F. Both are smoking but the thermacell seems to be more consistent. The Nitecore seems more intermittent.

After 30 minutes, the thermacell is at 255 and really smoking. Nitecore is still just an ocassional puff but it’s now at 190. The Nitecore when you cut it on with 100 percent battery it says 12 hours indoor and 6 for outdoor. But it immediately goes to 5 and it’s now at 4 hours for outdoor. I’m leaving it on outdoor to see when it dies to get battery life. I’m unsure how much the smoke matters, once warm they both kind of smell at similar strength.

After an hour the thermacell is 265 and the Nitecore is 220. The thermacell is smoking like crazy and I now notice no smoke from the Nitecore. Maybe those pads aren’t supposed to smoke?

2 hours in thermacell is 260 and Nitecore is 220 the thermacell pad is pretty crispy. It’s been on there since last season, I’ve never paid attention to know if that normally happens. Nitecore battery meter has said 4 hours basically since it got hot.

4 hours in the Nitecore is 205 and the thermacell is 270. The pad is well done on the thermacell. I want to put in another pad and try again later to see if this happens. The Nitecore says 2 hours left on the meter now.

6 hours in, the thermacell is still 270 and the Nitecore is now about 190 still has the smell and the pad looks a little lighter but not crazy. I’ll share a pic when it dies. I cut the thermacell off and the pad is roasted and discolored. I’ll update again when the Nitecore dies.

It ran well to more than 7 hours, I checked the temp and it was right around 170, I felt like it was losing juice but still smelly. Battery showed 9% left, I placed them on the battery station and it showed them at 3 volts which is pretty heavily discharged. The pad isn’t too washed out but definitely not as blue as when it started.
