Daniels is as good as anybody in the country when he’s on. He has had 2 great games against sub par competition. Let’s see him read an elite defense and torch them.

While that’s certainly fair on its face, I have a feeling that any defense he torches will just be written off as “sub par” simply because he torched them. And there is no defense on our schedule unless we play Georgia in the SECCG that won’t be easily hand-waved as “sub par” by his most staunch detractors. 25-32 for 375 yards and 3 TDs against Bama in Tuscaloosa? “Well, Bama sucks this year, Saban’s lost it, Steele’s just phoning it in at this point just to get his Alabama state pension, he’s not even calling the plays…Let’s wait until he does it against a real defense.”

People have made up their minds about him already and there’s no actually changing them. All the “I was wrong about Daniels” posters that popped up Saturday, will flip right back to “I TOLD YOU DANIELS SUCKS” as soon as he has a bad game.

And he will have a bad game this season. All QBs do. 30-34 with 340 yards, 2 TDs passing and 2 more rushing, while setting the single game completion percentage record is not sustainable. Progress is not a straight line at a perfect 45 degree angle. There will inevitably be peaks and valleys. Progress for Jayden will be keeping his valleys higher than they were last year and still finding ways for LSU to win.

Nobody believed what Burrow was capable of, then he did it!
