I’m picking a simple burger done right like LeBlanc’s in Zachary, Dearman’s, Dixie Maid, Goodwood Grill, or Riverside. To me, these are all in the same category.
I’m not knocking Dearman’s as I just ate there a few weeks ago and ate every bite of my burger.
But to the vast majority of people, a higher quality green leaf lettuce or something would outrank shredded iceberg. A juicy red tomato would outrank a mealy light one. A good cheese would outrank an American single. Deeply caramelized onions would beat out raw or cooked too hot/fast on the flattop. A brioche or sourdough or potato bun would beat out a cheap bagged bun. Etc. I mean all of this individually, like just side by side comparing each ingredient.
So naturally, a burger comprised of all of those ingredients would seemingly be considered “better” quality wise than one made of the limp, lower quality items.
I love a simple diner burger, but to me it’s nearly an objective fact that one using better ingredients is better, assuming the burger was cooked and seasoned well in both situations. Even if you personally like the diner ones better.
