Was just talking about this yesterday with my daughter, with the example of Dazed and Confused. Came out in 1993, was set in 1976, a totally different time and seemingly a world away.
Make the same movie today, and it's set in 2006. It wouldn't be different at all-- hairstyles, cars, music, houses.
Even technology -- cell phones? yep. HD televisions" Yep.
It's weird...

man I don't know about that. I started college at that time. A week or two ago I had to go on the LSU campus for a work event and I felt like I was on another planet.
