Watched a little documentary the other day of how mining companies paid their employees in their own currency which was only taken in the nearby town for supplies to live on. The currency was no good anywhere else, so the workers couldn't leave or take vacation anywhere else because they'd have no money to use. Crazy.

Jeff Bezos’s wet dream is to recreate those in space.

It’s frightening that he’s such a huge fan of The Expanse, bc he clearly read those and took the exact opposite lesson from the Belters than was intended
