Why does this shock you, flying from a hub to another hub (even for AA instead of DL)? Flying between Chicago and Houston, I knew I was *never* getting upgraded as a United 1K. This was the same thing on the route from Houston to Seattle to Anchorage. So many oil workers on that route, that I think I was once in between 60 and 70th for an upgrade on a 737.

Doesn’t shock me or even surprise me. The point is that there are too many “elite” flyers, and I don’t blame them for the change.
Basing it on miles versus dollars is way outdated.
