Hospitals should provide on the front end how much services will cost. This would solve quite a bit.
Secondly, either take the regulations away and let the free market do it's thing OR frick it and just go universal. We currently have this bastardized dumpster fire that is helping no one.

At one time hospitals sent itemized bills,now you only get one if you ask for it.
Everyone I ever saw for family members and friends was padded with all kinds of bullshite,like charged for 10 sleeping pills and only had 1 night in hospital.As many times as I saw it,it had to be on purpose.
I imagine that still goes on.
