Raymond never was the mythical coach that many here claim he was.
He benefited by awesome talent that was here before he coached, and got some recruits based off that pre-existing history.
He underperformed as a coach who, was gifted with talent recruited with that history.
LSU has poorly responded to this opportunity to maintain its prestige and standing.

Seems he did a pretty good job recruiting high end talent, and is continuing that trend at Florida

He was a really good recruiter but not a good coach. There is a reason a second DB coach was a stipulation to get Aranda to stay when he almost went to A&M.

He pulled some dam good recruits, but most of that credit goes towards the name brand of LSU.
Many times under his watch, the DB group underperformed, especially in the later part of his term at LSU.
The only thing I can think of that LSU has missed since his departure would be the swagger and the pride the secondary always seemed to play with. But that could also be said about the entire defense so hard to say if he had anything to do with that.
